Dipolog, city, western Mindanao, Philippines. Dipolog is a fishing and interisland shipping port. There is also a commercial airport. It was officially incorporated as a city in 1969, having previously been a municipality since 1913. Before that, it was considered an outer adjunct of the port of Dapitan on Dapitan Bay, some 10 miles (16 km) to the northeast. Over time, however, Dipolog surpassed Dapitan in both size and economic significance. The city is connected with the main part of Mindanao island via the scanty road system on eastern Zamboanga Peninsula. Pop. (2015) 130,759; (2020) 138,141.
